1. External Quality Assessment Scheme (EQAs) for HIV: In October 2008, EQAs was conducted for 12 National Reference Laboratories of NACO by distributing coded samples on behalf of the apex laboratory.

2. In Oct’08, HIV EQAs   was conducted for the State Reference Laboratories (SRLs) of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand by distributing coded EQAs panels i.e. plasma and dried tube specimen (DTS).

3. Annual Sentinel Surveillance for HIV: In the year 2008-09, National Institute of Biologicals has received and tested 277 Sentinel Surveillance samples from various District Hospitals & Medical Colleges of Uttaranchal and 1519 from various District Hospitals & Medical Colleges of Uttar Pradesh for HIV Testing and reports sent to NACO, UPSACS, USACS and the respective SRL.

4. Dried Blood Spot Testing: Under HIV Sentinel Surveillance 2008, 12,000 Dried Blood Spot samples received from High Risk Group sentinel has been tested by the laboratory using the Automated ELISA processor/ manual ELISA and reports have been sent to NACO and  Regional Institute.
