Biological tested by laboratory:
Nucleic acid based testing (NAT) laboratory is
being established for detection of transfusion - transmitted viruses such as
Hepatitis-B virus (HBV), Hepatitis-C virus (HCV) and Human Immunodeficiency
virus (HIV). The main objective of NAT laboratory is to detect blood
borne viruses such as HBV, HCV and HIV in pooled human plasma, finished
blood products like Albumin, Plasma protein fraction, Intramuscular
immunoglobulin, Intravenous immunoglobulin, Coagulation Factor-VIII and IX.
Scientific
Services Undertaken:
-
- Ten standard operating procedures (SOPs) have been
finalized. The primer sequences for HBV and HCV nucleic acid
detection have been obtained from the National Institute of Virology (NIV),
Pune and for HIV-1 & HIV-2 nucleic acid detection the primer
sequences have been obtained from National AIDS Research Institute (NARI),
Pune.
-
- Standardization and validation of NAT assays are in
progress. After standardization and validation of these assays, the lab
will prepare plasma panels for evaluation of PCR diagnostic kits for HBV,
HCV and HIV.
